I’d heard about it, and intellectually knew Disney held such high standards. Yet it wasn’t until I’d spent a day with the park crowds that I realized just how important are the contributions of the Custodial team to the Disney Difference.

Custodial hosts are essential to the Disney show
Custodial Cast Members work both on-stage and backstage to “preserve the magic,” the phrase Disney Casting uses to describe the job’s responsibilities. Streets are swept, bathrooms are kept sanitary, trash is removed.
While they’re completing these tasks that are essential to operations and the Disney show, these Cast Members also interact with guests, providing directions and helpful tips. They can be expect to be asked the same questions repeatedly, questions like, “What time is the three o’clock parade?” And they answer them with smiles.(...)
Disney Custodial as entertainment, JAMMitors and street artists
In addition to keeping the theme parks clean, even pristine, on-stage and off-stage, Disney Custodial team members not only preserve the magic. Sometimes they make the magic.
(...)
The JAMMitors perform a live percussion show using trashcans and other everyday objects – dustpans, hardhats, flyswatters – in Epcot at Walt Disney World. The trio’s eight-minute show includes patter and synchronized choreography, inviting audience response.
(...)
Equally impressive, and perhaps even more memorable, are the water sketches of Disney characters drawn using only a broom and water. Some Custodial Hosts or Hostesses will create these drawings of Mickey, Goofy, Pluto and others in minutes during their daily rounds. They will also invite guests, especially younger guests, to help them complete the image. The drawings only last until the water evaporates, and the sketches are not scheduled events. The sketches’ temporary and unplanned nature makes seeing such custodial contributions all the more unique.  (WATER AAAART EU QUERO!!!)In addition to the above moments, I have experienced or witnessed Custodial team members sing “Happy Birthday” to guests, tell child-friendly Disney jokes, blow soap bubbles and volunteer to take photos of guests using guests’ cameras at both the parks and hotels. These front-line Cast Members definitely make a difference in how guests experience Disney.
(....)
And for that, I salute Disney’s Custodial team and all the Disney Cast Members who make the magic happen. Kungaloosh!

 10. Sunshine
9. Babe watching
8. You never have a short cash drawer
7. A great tan
6. No need to repeat a script ad nauseum ("Please move all the way to the center of the theater, to allow room for everyone", "Please step away from the monorail door", "Do you want fries and a milkshake with your Pinocchio burger?, "Please do not sit on the lean rails", "Move to the center and remain away from the walls", "Please remember that flash photography is prohibited during the presentation").
5. Guests never ask you to do exchanges.
4. Every time a guest comments about how clean the park is, they are acknowledging your work.
3. You get to see the parade and fireworks whenever you want, even while working.
2. You go to sleep every night knowing you helped the Earth by recycling.
1. You are paid to get a great tan, while smiling, answering guest inquiries, recycling and babe watching.
